The contest kick-off event was on Saturday, February 2nd at 11 am, featuring special Kiwanis Club guest readers. Children attending the event had the opportunity to create and submit their bookmark entry using art supplies provided by the library. Entry forms were available at the Seymour Library and also in the Ginther, Barclay and Hill School libraries. The contest closed on Friday, February 29 at 6 pm.

The 3 grand prize winners were announced on Friday, March 14 at 2 pm at a ceremony at the Seymour Library. See the contest winners page for details.

"Read Around the World is an annual family service program of Kiwanis International that aims to create opportunities to celebrate reading with children. We're very excited to work with the Seymour Library to sponsor this contest at a local level," said Bob Reusch, President of the Kiwanis Club of Brockport.

"One of the most important behavior measures that correlates with reading scores is the number of books in the home. Access to printed materials – and not poverty – has been shown in studies to be the critical variable affecting reading skills," stated Seymour Library Director Cassie Guthrie. "We're thrilled to partner with Kiwanis to provide children with a copy of their very own book to take home, and to introduce children and their parents to the resources at the library," she continued.
